Food prices are going up

And up. Is inflation a myth? Nope.

Here are a few reasons why you can count on higher prices:

1. The dollar is being trashed. It's a lot more simple than the talking heads are letting on. Here's how it works. Print more dollars and, with nothing to back those dollars up, each new dollar is worth less and less.

2. Emerging countries have a growing middle class and this creates more demand for the same items. They have more money to bid for those items, plus their money is worth more than it used to be.

3. Droughts and reduced food exports in some places are making food scarcer, and thus more expensive. Food inflation in India is running over 10% a month.
