Why do other States in the region get to call themselves things like "Arab Republic" or, in the grandiose case of Libya, Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab State of the Masses? (No, really.)

Afghanistan: Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (hmmm...)
Egypt: Arab Republic of Egypt
Iran: Islamic Republic of Iran
Pakistan: Islamic Republic of Pakistan
Syria: Syrian Arab Republic
