Joel Richardson, author of the popular book The Islamic Antichrist, discusses in this podcast interview with Pastor Dan Catlin his views on Turkey and the Middle East.  Much food for thought here, even if you believe that the Antichrist will be a Roman figure rather than a Muslim one. Richardson and Walid Shoebat have made quite a stir over the past several years by forcefully arguing that we need to stop reading the prophetic Scriptures through Western or "America-centric" eyes.

More for the prophecy buffs...

All kinds of news of late concerning the burgeoning role of Turkey in the Middle East, as the Turkish government seeks to reestablish an Ottoman Empire of sorts, making peace in all different directions. Given that an older view of literal prophetic interpretation sees Turkey rather than Russia as being pivotal to the last days confederacy against Israel, I was amazed to see the following stories all hitting on the same day.

Important economic accords are being struck with Syria, Iraq, and Iran, and others in the region are being courted, even while Turkey snubs its somewhat friend, Israel.

Hmmm. I report, you... well, you know.

Israeli Sanhedrin Rabbi Calls For Turkish Mediation For Middle East Peace

Here's another one for the prophecy buffs. This is interesting for several different reasons, particularly:

(1) the rise of Turkey as peace broker in the Middle east;

(2) the Islamization of Turkey;

(3) the viewpoint of the Sanhedrin; and

(4) the mere fact of the renewed Sanhedrin's existence after 1600 years.

The recent spate of chatter concerning the Temple, the Ark, and Turkey is thought-provoking.

 

This news is slightly old (February 8 of this year), but while it featured prominently in Turkish newspapers, it has not been translated into English. But it is certainly important to take note of. Rabbi Menachem Fromen is one of the leaders of the new Israeli Sanhedrin.

Hurriyet: Israeli Rabbi Menachem Froman stated that the establishment of peace between Israel and Palestine was the problem most urgently in need of a solution in the Middle East and said: “It is an irrefutable fact that Turkey is the most natural mediator between Israel and Palestinian Society. Turkish President Abdullah Gül and Prime Minister Erdoğan are the only two who can bring regional peace about… There is a lack of trust and it is the Turkish government and Prime Minister Erdogan who will bring that trust about.”

Yet how often have I heard various prophecy commentators emphatically state that no Jew would ever trust a Muslim to mediate a regional Peace Treaty?
